GES Facades (Glued External Stone)

Principles

  • For opaque waterproof facades, with or without external insulation, Fiberstone fibre or Fiberstone hc panels are glued to aluminium frames attached to the metal framework.
  • The panels are light enough to enable extremely large panels to be used, for an exceptional seamless appearance.
  • For translucent waterproof facades, Fiberstone glass panels are glued using the same technique as for Fiberstone fibre and Fiberstone hc, to give incomparable decorative effects. In the daytime the translucent panels diffuse welcome sunlight, allowing the marble veins to shine through intensely. At night, the building's internal and external lighting highlight the marble and its veins.
  • The marble may be fitted in various ways: internally, sandwiched between 2 sheets of glass or externally (under development). The former two solutions have the advantage of protecting marble from external damage ( pollution, graffiti, salty spray).
  • This technique can be used to combine stone panels and glass panels on a single facade, using the same technical principle.

Fitting

Fitting involves two phases:

  • A wall curtain structure is fitted by a facade specialist using a glued external glass system (e.g. Schuco, Technal, Installux).
  • The Fiberstone panels are glued to the aluminium frames in an approved workshop before fitting.
  • Fiberstone is available to give advice, draw up fitting instructions and conduct studies for special applications.
  • Fire resistance :
    • Fiberstone fibre: M1
    • Fiberstone hc : M1
    • Fiberstone glass: M1
